Sunrise of Nashville is a locally owned business dedicated to providing personalized and high-quality landscape services to homeowners and commercial properties. With over 40 years serving the Nashville area, we offer a full range of services including lawn care, garden bed installation, seasonal clean-ups, mulching, custom planting, and irrigation. Sunrise of Nashville takes pride in working closely with each client to design and maintain outdoor spaces that are both beautiful and sustainable, with a strong focus on customer satisfaction and community connection.
Meet the Team
Bob Wellerding
President
Sunrise began in 1980 as a residential mowing service run by David Lipscomb graduates Bob Wellerding and Steve Gaines, starting with a few mowers, blowers, and weedeaters. Their focus on exceptional service quickly grew their client base. Bob pioneered edging sidewalks and beds with every mowing—a practice uncommon in Nashville at the time but now industry standard.
As commercial clients sought a single contractor, Sunrise expanded to full maintenance services, including mulch installation, shrub pruning, and leaf removal. In 1984, they completed their first large landscape project for John Thweatt and Gianikas Contractors, and by 1986 had added irrigation installation, often for existing clients. A total landscape renovation at country singer Lee Greenwood’s home solidified the landscape division as a permanent part of the company.
Bob is licensed and certified with the State of Tennessee in Category #3 Horticulture Lawn and Turf, is a Tennessee Certified Nursery Professional, and holds a Limited Electrician License.
Brad McColpin
Operations Manager
Brad is our Operations Manager, and he oversees all of our maintenance crews. He is a certified pesticide and chemical technician. Brad has worked in the landscape industry since 1990 and has been with Sunrise since 2001. Brad is married and has one son. He is a huge Kentucky Wildcats fan. He is the backbone of our day to day operations.
Julie McColpin
Office Manager
Julie is Office Manager for Sunrise. She brings a world of experience to the Office, handling customer information, vendors, payroll and various activities to help Sunrise become more efficient and successful
Robin Hummer
Jack of All Trades
Robin helps keep everything running smoothly in the office while providing maintenance to a few select properties. She has been with Sunrise since 1986 and is the backbone of Sunrise.
Charles Hummer
Jack of All Trades
Charles has over 30 years with Sunrise and virtually all his life in the landscape field. He handles the annual color plantings both spring and fall, tractor work, and many various services as well as meeting with customers and HOA’s to help meet their needs.
